Election law is an academic field falling between political science and constitutional law. It studies “the politics of laws and the law of laws.” The general concept behind election law deals with who votes, how that person may cast a vote, and the manner in which the votes are tabulated.
Each state may have differing election laws. Some states allow same-day registration and some do not. States also vary on whether they allow straight-line voting and whether they count votes according to party status or vote counting by population.
